Exploring Religion: Seeing Salvation

Dr. Muessig will discuss her new book that looks at the phenomenon of stigmata in premodern Christianity. Among the examples discussed will be Francis of Assisi and Catherine of Siena who were believed to have borne the five wounds of Jesus. She will show that then, as now, these claims were believed by some and dismissed by others.
